Calle Cruz Miami

We are a large family here in Lynchburg with most of our relatives in Miami and some in Nicaragua. Food is our love language and we cook together as a family often. When in Miami, our favorite times are sitting around a table with family and delicious food. Each of our children love the ability to create something delicious in the kitchen. Our home kitchen is not "gourmet" as you might imagine with a chef in the house. We enjoy the simple dishes derived from some of the poorest of countries such as Nicaragua, Chef Jon's birth country. Although these foods are easily found all over Miami, they're impossible to find in Lynchburg. So, we've taken our humble kitchen and put it into our food truck: Calle Cruz Miami.

There is significant meaning behind this name. Here's our story:
Calle (pronounced "kai-ye" rhymes with KanyeπŸ˜†) is the Spanish word for 'Street'.
Cruz is the middle name of our son that passed away July 5, 2013 due to injuries sustained in utero from a car crash we were involved in. Joziah Cruz Gonzalez was born already held by Jesus just 3 days away from his due date. He now rests at the beautiful Old City Cemetery, Lynchburg. Infant death is not openly talked about, but we want the world to know that he existed, he's a part of our family and this food truck represents us as a family, including Joziah Cruz. πŸ’™
Miami is where our inspiration comes from with this food, but is also where the majority of our family resides and our favorite place to be when we aren't slinging your favorites from Uprooted and Calle Cruz Miami. "Cruz the Streets of Miami"
